Howe Park Shooting Wounds 4 Shot in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade Neighborhood

Law enforcement in Sacramento are working a gunfire incident that broke out Saturday evening at Howe Community Park at the time deputies were breaking up a large unsanctioned party of a crowd of several hundred.

What Led to the Shooting

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies initially responded to the park shortly before 6:30 Saturday evening after being notified of individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons. After that, additional information came in describing a possible fight occurring near the park.

An overhead unit searched from above but came back with no confirmation of a fight. Despite this, it was apparent that an enormous crowd had come together at the location without any permit or approval.

The Dispersal and Shooting

Officers started clearing the unauthorized gathering by forming a perimeter and issuing commands over loudspeakers telling attendees to clear out. Around 15 minutes were allotted for attendees to disperse.

It was during this dispersal that 20 to 25 gunshots rang out. The sudden gunfire sent the crowd running in all directions. Law enforcement swiftly started searching for victims.

The Shooting Victims

By the time the scene was secured, four shooting victims were identified as having gunshot wounds. The victims — including a female and three males each reported to be in their twenties — were transported to Sacramento area hospitals. Medical personnel indicated that two victims were in serious condition, one of the four had moderate gunshot wounds, and one person's injuries were considered minor. In a positive development, all four were expected to survive.

Metro Fire Sacramento also responded and helped care for those with gunshot wounds before they were taken to the hospital.

The Investigation

The center of the incident was believed to have occurred on the Cottage Way side of the park near the Home Depot store at the 2200 Howe Avenue block. Detectives identified further ballistic evidence in the form of shell casings along Cottage Way. Bullet holes were identified in the iron perimeter fence adjacent to the Home Depot store. The physical evidence pointed to that at least one shooter had been Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 aiming south from the Cottage Way area in the direction of the Home Depot. The Home Depot was secured under a brief lockdown during the incident. Crime scene personnel remained on scene for hours.

Suspect Information

Details gathered through scanner monitoring indicated that a vehicle identified as a Kia was contacted by law enforcement in the Solano County area. Four suspects were in the vehicle at the time of the stop. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were heading to pick up the four detainees to return them to Sacramento for investigation. Video reviewed at the scene confirmed that two separate shooters participated in the incident.
